Girls'
university uniform Short and

Sep. 2005
S, M, L, XL are universal clothing sizes but not for Thailand. There are additional sizes known as
SS, SSS, and SSSS. The more Ss, the smaller.
These super mini sizes are actually not for children but for ladies who
prefer to wear small, short and tight. And they are wearing them in class as a
uniform.
It's the hottest fashion, possibly developed from the trendy low rise jeans and
the super model body. The super small uniform helps control their bodies slim
at all times. (They can't eat too much when wearing these uniforms.)
Not only
are sizes concern, colors and designs are as well. For example, shirts may look
white but actually they are light bluish-shaded and sleeves are shorter than usual.
Nobody knows how long this fashion will last but if you go near a university or
places like Siam Square or the Victory
Monument on weekdays afternoon, they're always there.
Bits & Pieces
1. The "SSS uniforms" are more popular among students in private universities.
2. The "SSS uniforms" is one of the most controversial uniforms in
many years. Many people feel they
are not polite for Thai's Buddhist society. However, the more they are talked about, the more they are seen.

There are a number
of students who still prefer the traditional uniform.
2. First year students in public universities are easily
noticed by the white socks and shoes.
They're young and
still conservative.

They are not in
this uniform
fashion.

is not as
trendy as girls' but yet may have some fashion
(eg pocket,

Some
universities
require their freshmen to wear a neck-tie.
3. University uniform stores displaying different designs of boys' uniforms.
These stores sell custom and ready-made
uniforms designed for each
university in the
latest fashion.
Uniform stores
can either be
stand alone or in
shopping malls
like 29 Plaza opposite MBK Center.
