Low
rise jeans
Girls' undersized
fashion
Nov.
2005
Low
rise jeans are popular
these days and this is
no exception for Thai
girls. (There are low rise jeans
for boys as well but still
incomparable to
girls. They both
wear
them
the
opposite
way,
boys wear
them oversized loose but
girls wear them
undersized tight!)
There is a
huge selection of low
rise jeans widespread
everywhere
from
street
markets
to
air
con.
shopping
malls.
The length
at first was 1-2
inches low but now
it’s gone down to 2-3
inches. The lower
the
waist,
the
more
it
seems
uncomfortable
to
wear.
I
saw
many
girls
acted
uncomfortably
when
sitting
or
bending
forward.
They
were
worried
and
kept
pulling
the
shirt
over
their
back.
Some
wrap
a
sash
over
the
waist.
While
you
can
see
many
Thai
girls
wearing
clothes
showing
their
tummies,
arms,
legs,
they
are
actually
very
shy
to
wear
swimsuits
in
public.
If
you
go
to
the
beaches,
you
can
hardly
see
Thai
girls
in
swimsuits.
Not
all
girls
are
like
this
but
I'm
talking
about
the
majority.
Low
rise
jeans
has
strong
influence
also
in
university uniforms.
Yes,
there
are
low
rise
uniforms.
Shirts,
belts
and
even
thongs
(G-strings)
are
geared
toward
low
rise.
There
were
reports
of
skyrocket
sales
in
thongs
since
the
emergence
of
low
rise
jeans.
Time
by
time,
there
is
a
controversy
about
girls
wearing
low
rise
in
Thailand.
This
fashion
is
considered
impolite
for
the
Thai
Buddhist
ways.
Still,
what
keeps
this
fashion
going
is
a
matter
of
personal
rights.
Personal
right
comes
first.
Hooray!
